A Microsoft Enterprise Agreement (EA) is a volume licensing contract designed for large organizations, typically with 500 or more users or devices. Enterprise Agreements are generally structured as three-year commitments and provide standardized pricing and licensing terms across Microsoft products such as Microsoft 365, Office, and on-premises software.
Historically, Enterprise Agreements were widely used to simplify licensing for large enterprises. However, their fixed contract terms and predefined license quantities can limit flexibility in cloud-first environments where usage and requirements change frequently.
As an alternative to Enterprise Agreements, Microsoft also offers the Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) model, which enables more flexible, consumption-based licensing with monthly or annual billing and greater visibility into usage and costs. CSP is increasingly adopted by organizations seeking agility and ongoing optimization rather than long-term contractual commitments.
We are an authorized Microsoft Cloud Solution Provider, supporting organizations that are evaluating alternatives to Enterprise Agreements. You can read more about CSP licensing and our services here.
